CASE STUDY | WEB DESIGN AND BRANDING
Spyr have a vast array of poetry, prose, music and visuals on their site. They pride themselves on publishing content that would otherwise probably not have a platform. Visit the site and you'll understand the niche they occupy.
So, SPYR create work that required people to listen without prejudice leading to the natural conclusion of utilising the universal symbol for listening (ears!) as the basis for the logo. Next, the roundel was the obvious choice with which to house the ears. It is the classic graphic indicator of unity and as many of the projects involve different combinations of their artists it's perfect for the job.
Playing with these elements a strong design emerged. Juxtaposing images of the ears created an 'S' figure, which once applied graphically created a subtle Ying/Yang theme to boot.
This was the design that we persevered with to the final piece.
