CASE STUDY | WEB DESIGN AND BRANDING

Having visited the client and ascertained exactly what was required I set about rendering a CSS layout system based on a fluid 2-column grid, which would allow the sites content to flow effortlessly. With a horizontal navigation system this isn't rocket science but, in terms of site ergonomics, you can get much more user-friendly than this.

With a lack of logo to base our designs on I felt strongly that the colour scheme interior decor of the bar ought to be responsible for conveying continuity between the virtual and reality. This was the subject of much discussion and I had some convincing to do so the client would forgoe their very personal preferences in favour of beauty, harmony and synthesis.

After a selection of fonts had been whittled down, a simple, typographic solution was developed in order to project the boutique feel that the client required. This was also used throughout the site to title and brand the headings.

In addition I developed a series of icons for some of the areas of the site; such as the 'promotions' column, which would help draw the eye across towards them and further express the boutique feel to the viewer.

The design began took shape as planned and, with the supplied images of the bar along with some stock imagery, the inclusion of these really lifted the whole site.

The mere technicalities of a contact form, a Google map and a small matter of the written content for the site, the job was done.
