CASE STUDY | AUDIO BRANDING
The plan here was to modernise the existing logo with fresh audio. To achieve this I worked closely with the client to ascertain the right sounds, pace and tone in order to create a new sonic identity with which to support the highly respected brand.
Having completed some research on the Pegasus, the mythical creature used as the Reader's Digest logo, it is said that 'everywhere the winged horse struck his hoof to the earth, an inspiring spring burst forth'. This became the inspiration for the development of the soundtrack here.
I developed 4 or so very different options as a launchpad for discussions with the client...
Based on these examples we discuss the depth and sincerity that orchestral strings convey and decided that we should include this to underpin the melody.
The french horns were deployed in a bugle call style, which were traditionally used as a signal of clear communication on the battlefields.
I chose the marimba for the melody to give the sting a contemporary, yet brand-faithful feel.
These choices were ochestrated to create the finished article.
